Rabbits and Easter eggs

In South Tyrol, a tradition of Easter is that eggs must be hide.

As in many other countries, the tradition has it that the Easter rabbit hides eggs to children who enjoy looking around the garden.

But precisely because the rabbits for Easter and what focus with the resurrection of Christ? At first glance nothing. But this is not completely true, the rabbit is a symbol of life and fertility, as well as the egg.

For the ancient Greeks was the rabbit the animal of Aphrodite. Why then the Easter rabbit to hide painting eggs, is not entirely clear. One explanation may simply be that the chickens would not be able to do so.

Anyway children know that their task is to find painting eggs hidden by the rabbit and that those who succeed in finding may decide to keep the eggs or share them with others.
